About that name - "Whiskey Creek" - that came about because the community is located along McGregor Blvd. just North of Whiskey Creek. The Creek's name goes back to the days of Prohibition when, it's said, some enterprising individuals decided to set up a business making certain types of "refreshments" along the banks of the Creek. The shelter of the small Creek and it's connection to the Caloosahatchee River which made for easy transport of their products was ideal. Naturally, the locals called it Whiskey Creek, and the name continues in use until this day, although the "businesses" disappeared years ago.
