Welcome to Our Website!

We are Kay & Tom Ewert and we can help you Buy or Sell property in Lee County Florida.

Real Estate is a Service Business. We feel it is important to listen to people and really understand their needs. We'd like you to get to know us, too. In sharing who we are and what we want, we're sure we'll find many areas of mutual interest.

We've been Partners in Life since 1963. We've shared many experiences and we've traveled to many fascinating places. We've lived in Fort Myers, Florida since June of 1987, and we love it here. We both earned our Florida Real Estate licenses in 1987. We've seen many changes occur in the area since then and we feel we have the experience to help you make sound Real Estate decisions.

We feel that our life experiences before we entered the Real Estate field help us understand the needs of the people we work with in our Real Estate business. It's fun to find that we share interests and experiences with our customers. We mention the following in hopes that we might find a common thread with your interests.

Kay was born in Davenport, Iowa and grew up on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. Tom was born in Rock Island, Illinois and spent his childhood there. We were married in Rock Island in 1963. When Tom was called to military service in 1966, it opened the world to both of us. The Army took us to Kentucky, California, Georgia and around the world to Korea in the two years that followed. Kay even had the opportunity to visit Hawaii on her return from Korea.

After the Army, pursuit of education continued to expose us to this great country. In the late 60's we lived in Colorado where Tom earned his BS in Horticulture from Colorado State University. In the early 70's we moved to Delaware where Tom earned his MS in Ornamental Horticulture from the Longwood Gardens Graduate Program in 1972. Kay broadened her experiences with positions in the Credit Bureau field and in Banking.

In 1972 we moved to Virginia, and we liked it so much that we spent 15 years of our lives in that delightful area. Tom was the Director of the University of Virginia's Blandy Experimental Farm. Together, we shared the opportunities of the Farm and it's Orland E. White Arboretum with the neighboring communities. Kay continued in Banking, and then served as a Customer Claims Reprersentative for a major health insurance provider in the area. Then, in 1984, we bought Green Haven Nursery and Kay ran the operation - Retail Nursery / Landscape Maintenance Division / Year 'Round Christmas Shop - until we moved to Florida in the summer of 1987. Kay had three Christmas Shops while we were in Virginia. Each one was different and each allowed her to express her creativity and enjoy the wonderful people of Virginia.

What brought us to Florida? Well, as with so much of our lives, I guess you'd say it was meant to be. Kay's brother moved to Florida about 15 years before we did. While we often thought of visiting him, it always seemed to be too far away. When he encouraged us to visit, and suggested a chance to see the Miami Grand Prix would be an added bonus, we did it. That was February of 1985. Repeat visits in 1986 and 1987 led to a job offer on Sanibel and we were off to live in the Tropics, or, more precisely, the sub-tropics. We've never regretted it, and perhaps that's why we so much enjoy sharing our love for Southwest Florida with others who think they might like to call this sub-tropical paradise, "Home".

Kay earned her Florida Real Estate License in October of 1987.  Tom received his license in December of 1987, but continued to work in the field of Horticulture as Director of Landscaping, first at Sanibel Moorings, and then at South Seas Plantation.  Tom earned his Brokers License in 1992 and joined Kay full time at RE/MAX Realty Group in 1993.

Time passes, and situations change.  In November of 2004 Kay was diagnosed with cancer.  Our World turned upside down.  By the Grace of God, and with the Prayers and Support of family and friends and the fantastic medical personnel in Lee County,  she is getting better.  Recovery can be a slow process and each day brings new challenges, but we have great hope.  "Survivor" is a word that has taken on a new meaning in our vocabulary.  Tom continues to carry on the Real Estate business through RE/MAX Realty Group and Kay has kept up to date with the educational requirements of the Florida Real Estate Commission.  She remains an important part of The Ewert Team, helping with day to day activities as her energy level dictates.  She finds comfort and joy in talking with past customers and her experience and way with people are an asset to the "Team".  The Ewert Team is here to serve your Real Estate needs.  We ask that you remember us in your prayers, and call us when you need the services of Real Estate professionals.
